Last week, President Donald Trump pledged to donate $1 million to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Now, the people who will be receiving the donations have been announced.
12 different groups will be receiving money.
From NY Post:
The Salvation Army and the Red Cross will each receive $300,000,
while Reach out America and Samaritan’s Purse will get $100,000 donations.
Trump and his wife, Melania, are also giving $25,000 to both the ASPCA and Catholic Charities.
The White House noted in a statement that the President and the First Lady had the opportunity while in Texas to observe some of these groups first hand.
The White House said it was proud to be able to further help the recovery effort.
When Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that the President would be making the donation, she said that Trump was also inviting the White House Press Corp to contribute their own suggestions to whom Trump should donate.
The White House statement noted they had taken those suggestions into account.
“Several of the following organizations were recommended, at the invitation of the President,
by members of the White House Press Corps, and he would like to thank those who made recommendations for their attention to this important cause.”
The other groups who will receive money are Direct Relief, Habitat for Humanity, Houston Humane Society, Operation Blessing, Portlight Inclusive Disaster Strategies and Team Rubicon.
Kudos to the President for making the donation.
